Churches belong in our lives, whether we are believers or not. For some, the church is a sacred place from where it is closest to God, for others an architectural monument and a touch of the past, for another a building giving a shadow on their favourite bench. No matter which group you belong to, the Night of churches event is for everyone. It was founded in Germany at the turn of the millennium and the first year in the Czech Republic took place in 2009. The churches that want to participate will be open to the general public in the evening and will host concerts, lectures, workshops or theater performances on their territory. In the list you will find churches from all over the country, but for start, we will mention you a few Prague ones, such as the Cathedral of St. Vitus at Prague Castle, the Church of Our Lady Victorious and St. Antonín Paduánský (Infant Jesus of Prague), Church of St. Nicholas, or the Cathedral of St. Cyril and Methodius.
It is a gentle and sympathetic encounter with Christianity, and it only depends on you how touching moment it can be.
